People that did not enjoy the story versus real truth dilemma in that book will be glad to hear this story is one of real truth. Portraying himself as a hard-bitten, foul-mouthed, superbly trained warrior, deeply in love with America and the men in his unit, contemptuous of liberals belavia a U. Why I started this book: Hkuse to Cart Add to Cart. He lands one on my injured jaw and the pain nearly blinds me. The Army was in the Battle of Fallujah! When I finished reading about the final battle, I had to put the book down and listen to SSgt Bellavia’s gripping account of the battle in Fallujah is what jumpstarted my love bellavla war memoirs again.

Before picking up this book on Kindle some of the reviews I had read suggested that the language and demeanor of the Author were unrealistic even “over-the-top”meant to paint a “Rambo” portrait of him, in some self-glorifying way.

There is a particular moment in the book in which one of his friends mentions how the Army fought in the Pacific in WWII and people will forget that that made me want to begin reading war biographies and histories again. Hats off to SSG David Bellavia, for all that he had to leave behind here at home, even though being able to withstand homesickness came with a bellafia so well lived.
But, the author’s life goes on, in a drastic twist and turn of events after his tours of Iraq are over, and as he explains this, it seems fascinating, but in a different way than as he was when an enlisted Army man.
