The girls stayed with each other at first, but paced down different ways later on. Despite the tragic elements, Gowdy doesn’t linger on anything too long, but it’s a no-less affecting read for the brevity.

The perspective rings true as the book tells the gowfy of Norma, Sandy and Angdls as they cope with their parents’ bad behaviour, making allowances and accommodations to get through their childhood relatively unscathed.
