Though the book is generally quite humorous and easy to read, stfuck does touch on some serious issues, such as alcohol abuse and dementia. And the most amusing parts seemed to come from Meleria, the character Rebel Wilson plays in the film – and I’m just not sure whether I was picturing her deadpan delivery and that was amusing me more than the actual book was.
It’s hilarious, brilliantly satirical, and tragicomically dark as it nails the pure toxicity of high-school culture in a dead-end small town. It gave me a chance to spend a little more time with my first set of characters — and I wasn’t ready to let them go just yet. I’ll be honest, I am biased towards this book simply because it’s written by Chris Colfer, and in my opinion, anything to do with Chris Colfer is going to be incredible.
